Zac Brown Band’s “Chicken Fried” Sells 4+ million copies

“Chicken Fried” in the food world refers to steak, or sometimes chicken, that is breaded and pan-friend. In the music world, it’s a song that Zac Brown co-wrote with Wyatt Durrette, recorded in 2003 and placed on Zac Brown Band’s 2005 album, Home Grown.  In 2006, The Lost Trailers, another Georgia-originated band, recorded it and released it as a single before later withdrawing it from radio. Two years later, the Zac Brown Band re-recorded the song and released it as the first single from their major label release, The Foundation. In late 2008, “Chicken Fried” became ZBB’s first chart single, as well as its first number-one hit on the Billboard country charts. As of July 2014, had sold over 4 million copies.
