By most reports, 2016 will be the last year that Widespread Panic tours extensively. Since playing its first official gig together in Athens, Georgia in 1986, the band has amassed a huge and intensely devoted fanbase and racked up a slew of album sales, accolades, awards and miles on the road. To celebrate its 30th anniversary and the release of its 12th studio album, Street Dogs, produced by John Keane, Widespread embarked on a spring tour earlier this year and is now in the midst of a run of dates in September and October. On Sept. 16, 2016, the Georgia Music Hall of Fame inductees played to the home-state crowd at Verizon Amphitheatre in Alpharetta and photographer Paul R. Giunta captured a few moments. The band has announced that after performing three shows in Nashville Dec. 29 – 31, it will take well-deserved time off. While we want you to thoroughly enjoy the rest, gentlemen, just know that we’ll be counting the days until Panic returns to the stage in the Peach State.
