Whigs Releasing Live Album; Former Member Has New Kuroma LP

Nearly a year after recording two packed shows last December at Atlanta club Aisle 5, The Whigs are releasing the result on November 11th.

Titled Live in Little Five, and distributed through their current label home New West Records, the album showcase eight tracks spanning the group’s 14-year career, as well as two new songs intended for their next full-length studio album. While the shows were also filmed, it is unknown at this point whether a live DVD release is also forthcoming, although a live video of their song “Like a Vibration” from the forthcoming album can be enjoyed here:

The trio – which took a break from the road for much of the first half of this year while vocalist/guitarist Parker Gispert embarked on a series of solo shows – is back in heavy-duty touring mode with East Coast dates currently booked through mid-October.

In related news, Whigs founding member Hank Sullivant (who still occasionally performs with his former band) will release The Dark Horse Rides Again, the latest album from his current art-pop project Kuroma, on Oct. 14th via Votiv Records.
