Week of Events Marks 112’s First Album Since 2005

After a brief hiatus during the late aughts, Atlanta R&B group 112 has been back together recording and touring for the past seven years. And now the fruits of those recording sessions are seeing the light of day, as the quartet’s new album Q Mike Slim Daron (their first since 2005) will be released on Friday, October 27th. As the title emphasizes, the group still boasts its original lineup: Quinnes “Q” Parker, Michael Keith, Marvin “Slim” Scandrick and Daron Jones.

Leading up to and commemorating the release, the group is staging “112 Takeover Week” with events throughout their hometown. On Monday, Oct. 23rd, all four members will be honored with the Phoenix award at their alma mater, South Atlanta High School. Tuesday, Oct. 24th has the guys hosting a private listening session for music tastemakers and colleagues to hear the new project. On Thursday morning, Oct. 26th, 112 will host a music class with the students of South Atlanta High. That evening, a public release party sponsored by the City of Atlanta’s Office of Entertainment will be held at Club Alibi. And on Saturday, Oct. 28th, 112 will headline a free daytime concert and community fair at South Atlanta High, beginning at 11 a.m.

“It’s a blessing to be able to come back after almost twelve years to fans that are excited to hear new music,” Daron says. “This new album is a more personal look into our lives, and of course 112 started in southwest Atlanta so we thought what better way to kick this off than with the community that supported us.”
