‘Tis the Season for Georgia Musicians Down on One Knee

With the Christmas season already providing a celebratory atmosphere, two of Georgia’s most popular singers took things a step further by proposing to their longtime girlfriends.

Shortly after Christmas, eleventh season American Idol champ Phillip Phillips announced via his social media pages that “My best Christmas surprise is happening. We’re engaged yall!” Phillips met his fiancée, Hannah Blackwell, who is also from Georgia, six years ago when they were volunteering together at a women’s and children’s center. Blackwell, 22, is a nursing student who appeared in the video for the singer’s breakthrough single, “Home.”

Congrats are also in order for rapper Ludacris, who proposed to his longtime squeeze Eudoxie Mbouguiengue on Dec. 26th as they were beginning a vacation together aboard a private jet. On his Instagram page, Ludacris (Chris Bridges) enthusiastically reported that “She didn’t say yes. She said HELL YES. #milehighproposal.”
