Three-Disc Box Set Gives Overview of Little Richard’s Classic Years

A box set of Little Richard’s classic recordings spanning the years 1956 through 1965 is being released on June 2nd. Directly From My Heart: The Best of the Specialty and Vee-Jay Years compiles 64 songs over three CDs, plus a 36-page booklet including an essay by Billy Vera.

The Macon native recorded his most beloved and well-known material for the Specialty and Vee-Jay labels, including “Tutti Frutti,” “Long Tall Sally,” “Rip It Up,” “Lucille,” “Good Golly, Miss Molly” and “The Girl Can’t Help It.” All are included in this set, along with numerous B-sides, deep cuts and rarities.
