The Coca-Cola Atlanta Roxy – which for years occupied the Roswell Road space that now houses the Buckhead Theatre in Atlanta – is getting a new location at The Battery Atlanta, a multi-use development situated next to the new SunTrust Park, the new home for the Atlanta Braves. And the first three concerts at the new venue have just been announced.
Atlanta’s alternative rock station Radio 105.7 will throw its 4th birthday bash at the 53,000 square-foot, two-tiered theater on Saturday, April 8th, headlined by English rock band Glass Animals. Things get more local on April 22nd, when Jefferson, Georgia’s Americana singer-songwriter Corey Smith (pictured) plays the new spot. And on May 10th, British rock band Bush pays a visit.
With Live Nation returning as the Roxy’s talent booker and venue operators, plans are for an average of 40 concerts per year, in addition to private rentals and corporate events. Expect many more concert announcements for the new Roxy throughout the rest of 2017 and beyond. And in case you hadn’t heard, Billy Joel will play the very first concert at Sun Trust Park on April 28th.
