Celebrating their tenth year as a band, The Coathangers’ fifth album Nosebleed Weekend will be released by Suicide Squeeze Records on April 15th. That same night, the band will play a hometown release show at Atlanta’s Star Bar.
Nosebleed Weekend is the trio’s first album to be recorded outside of Atlanta. Instead, they trekked to North Hollywood and set up camp at Valentine Recording Studio with producer Nic Jodoin, who’s previously helmed sessions by Night Beats, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and other indie rock acts. The Coathangers were the first band to record in Valentine since 1979, when producer Jimmy Valentine shut it down. The studio was a virtual time capsule for more than thirty years, as he left all of the vintage gear and console intact. “It was an amazing experience, not to mention a ghostly one, too,” says The Coathangers’ Julia Kugel.
