The Coathangers Cover The Gun Club on Latest Single

Just wrapping up eight weeks of solid touring, including over a month crisscrossing Europe, Atlanta rock trio The Coathangers return home just a week after their latest limited-edition single hits stores.

As has been their custom for their past couple of years, this one is another “split” single shared with another band (in this case, Seattle group These Arms Are Snakes), but this time both bands do cover songs, with The Coathangers tackling influential L.A. group The Gun Club’s 1981 rouser “Sex Beat.” While not appearing on any of The Coathangers’ albums, it’s been a staple of the band’s live sets for several years now, and in March they performed it at an all-day birthday party for Gun Club guitarist Kid Congo Powers during South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.

Only a thousand copies of the single were pressed, on clear vinyl with a red & black splatter design. The Coathangers’ latest full-length album, Suck My Shirt, was released in March by Suicide Squeeze.
