The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will open its 2016-2017 season with Rachmaninov’s Third Piano Concerto performed by special guest, pianist Garrick Ohlsson, and Sibelius’s Symphony No. 5 led by Music Director Robert Spano. The September 22nd and 24th programs at Atlanta Symphony Hall, and Sept. 25th at the University of Georgia’s Hodgson Concert Hall in Athens, will also include an ASO premiere of John Adams’ “Tromba Iontana,” in celebration of Adams’ 70th birthday.
Then on Sept. 30th and Oct. 1st, the Pops Series will begin with UK Rocks! An “Across the Pond” Spectacular.” Led by principal Pops conductor Michael Krajewski, the Orchestra will perform the best of British Rock with guest vocalists Storm Large and Shem von Schroeck performing music from Queen, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Coldplay and more, at Atlanta Symphony Hall.
