Susan Archie Designs Forthcoming Greek Folk Music Box Set

Grammy Award-winning Atlanta-based graphic designer Susan Archie, who is currently nominated yet again for a Grammy for her design work on volume two of Third Man Records’ Paramount Records box set, will be in the early running for the 2017 Grammys when Third Man releases its next historical package on February 5th.

With cover artwork by legendary underground artist R. Crumb, Archie designed the package for Why the Mountains are Black: Primeval Greek Village Music 1907-1960. The 28 recordings, re-mastered from original 78 r.p.m. discs, showcase what musician Jack White’s label describes as “unhinged Greek village music that at times sounds more like free jazz or doom folk, feral and trance-like as it is… It is not what you would expect.”
