Run the Jewels Running Away with Year-End Accolades

Run the Jewels’ sophomore album has netted numerous accolades as 2014 comes to a close, including placement at or near the top of many media outlets’ year-end best-of lists. The rap duo, which formed in 2013, consists of Atlanta’s Killer Mike (Michael Render) partnering with New York City’s El-P (Jaime Meline).

Among the recent critical accolades, Run the Jewels 2 was named album of the year by indie/hipster websites Pitchfork and Stereogum, placed at number two with Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, Daily Beast and the AV Club, number three on Paste and SPIN’s year-end lists and landed at number eight on Rolling Stone’s best-of-2014’s countdown. The album also placed high in year-end roundups from the New York Times, Newsweek, NPR and other reputable outlets.
