RSD “Black Friday” Special Releases Include Georgia Acts

In case you didn’t know, there are now two “Record Store Days” designed to kick-start the fortunes of music retailers – the original still happens in April, and in recent years a supplemental one occurs the Friday after Thanksgiving, commonly known in the retail biz as “Black Friday” as its traditionally high sales volume can send stores’ yearly profits into the black in a single day.

Anyhow, as always, there are numerous limited edition vinyl releases to entice fans and collectors into stores to empty their wallets, and there are several of special note to us appreciators of Georgia music, including: a live B-52’s concert from 1979; a double LP of Outkast’s Stankonia album on colored vinyl; and a split EP between Savannah’s Casket Girls and Oklahoma group Stardeath and White Dwarfs featuring two new songs from each outfit.

Mark your calendar: RSD’s Black Friday happens on Friday, Nov. 27th. And check with your favorite stores ahead of time, because some will have special hours on that day.
