Rapper and entrepreneur Rick Ross is now headquartering his Maybach Music Group label in Atlanta. He’s also partnered with Dina Marto’s Twelve Music Group, which operates the 4,000 square foot Atlanta recording facility Twelve Studios, to launch a talent search for new, young artists called Artists First.
With the new Atlanta office for Maybach housed in the Twelve Music Group space, plans are for the label’s artists to record in the adjacent studios. Aside from Ross, artists on Maybach Music Group, which is currently distributed by Atlantic Records, include Washington DC rapper Wale, California R&B sensation Omarion (whose first solo album, O, debuted at #1 on Billboard’s albums chart), Ohio rapper Stalley, Chicago’s Rockie Fresh and Atlanta rapper Tracy T.
Meanwhile, tryouts for Artists First will be held – at a date and time to be announced – in a theater on Ross’ 235-acre property in Fayette County that was previously owned by Evander Holyfield.
