Ray Charles Tribute in Vegas Offers Free Tickets For “Georgia”

The Venetian in Las Vegas has an appropriately Georgia-centric promotion going for its run of the critically acclaimed show Georgia On My Mind: Celebrating the Music of Ray Charles. The luxury resort hotel is offering anyone named Georgia a complimentary ticket to the show, which is no small potatoes since the lowest priced ticket to the production costs $82.50.

The show, starring vocal group Take 6, jazz saxophonist Kirk Whalum and singers Nnenna Freelon and Clint Holmes, as well as the Las Vegas Mass Choir and the Las Vegas All-Star Big Band, combines video and photo projections, narration and music to salute Charles and his beloved songs.

Georgia On My Mind debuted in Atlanta at the Cobb Energy Centre for one night in February, and also played Reynolds Hall in Las Vegas two nights later. The stand at the Venetian is its first multi-night residency, running through Oct. 29th.
