Ray Charles’ Final Album of Duets Gets Deluxe Treatment

Ray Charles’ final recording, 2004’s duets album Genius Loves Company, is being reissued in deluxe 10th Anniversary editions beginning Sept. 30th by Concord/Hear Music.

Winner of eight Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year, and with worldwide sales in excess of five million, Genius Loves Company features Charles performing duets with Norah Jones, Van Morrison, Bonnie Raitt, Willie Nelson, Elton John and fellow Georgia music icon Gladys Knight, among many others.

A deluxe CD edition to be released on Sept. 30th includes the original album plus two additional tracks, as well as a DVD of a new, one-hour behind-the-scenes documentary, Making of Genius Loves Company. A “limited collectors edition” will follow on Nov. 11th, including both of those aforementioned discs plus a DVD of the Academy Award-winner motion picture Ray, starring Jamie Foxx as Charles. Also released on Nov. 11th will be a double-vinyl LP edition of the original Genius Loves Company album.
