Atlanta trio A Drug Called Tradition could be considered something of a continuation of the psych-rock band Abby Gogo, who petered out a couple years ago. They boast two former Abby Gogo members (guitarist/vocalist Bon Allinson and drummer Pumakawa Navarro) and churn out a comparable supply of trippy, shoegazin’ garage rock.
Along with bass guitarist Asha Lakra, the group went to Mississippi to record their debut album with producer Matt Patton (Drive-By Truckers, Dexateens). The resulting Medicine Music will be released on Friday, July 28th. That night, the band celebrates with a headlining show at The Earl in East Atlanta Village.
