Production to Begin on Donald Glover’s FX Pilot, “Atlanta”

Rap star and actor Donald Glover, a onetime Stone Mountain resident perhaps better known as Childish Gambino, will reportedly begin filming the pilot for his FX sitcom Atlanta by the end of this month.

The show, which will star Glover as one of two cousins trying to make it in Atlanta’s rap scene, is expected to begin production in the city in which it’s set by late July, with Hiro Murai directing. Others slated to star in the pilot include Bryan Tyree Henry, Lakeith Lee Stanfield and Zazie Beetz. The show was conceptualized by Glover, who also wrote the pilot.

Glover is no stranger to television acting or writing, having previously been a regular on the sitcom Community and a writer for NBC’s 30 Rock.
