Atlanta musical trio Midnight Larks, who formed in the spring of 2015, are issuing their debut album this month. The self-titled vinyl LP will be celebrated with a release show taking place on March 31st at The EARL, 488 Flat Shoals Ave.
The dozen reverb-drenched songs on Midnight Larks showcase the band’s rousing blend of garage rock, surf noir, girl group, psychedelic and country sounds.
The band’s members are some of the more active in Atlanta’s current indie rock scene. Guitarist/organist/vocalist Sasha Vallely – a native of England who logged time in LA bands The Warlocks and Spindrift – helms a thrashy two-piece wrecking crew called Sash the Bash; bassist/guitarist/vocalist Nikki Speake also plays bass in Atlanta quartet Shantih Shantih and leads her own honky-tonk group, Nikki & the Phantom Callers; and drummer/backing vocalist Pietro DiGennaro drums for Atlanta garage rock blasters Bad Spell and DJs at various local clubs.
