Patterson Hood to Hold Public Conversation With Ann Powers

Patterson Hood of Drive-By Truckers will conduct a public conversation with pop music critic and NPR contributor Ann Powers on Feb. 12th in the University of Georgia Chapel, as part of Global Georgia Initiative speaker series of the University of Georgia’s Jane & Henry Willson Center for Humanities and Arts. The subject of Hood and Powers’ discussion: “Our Back Pages: The Music, Books and Movies That Fed Two Creative Lives.”

The event, which is free and open to the public, occurs on the afternoon of the first of three consecutive nighttime shows by the Truckers at Athens’ 40 Watt Club. The band has a long tradition of such multi-night shows early every year at the 40 Watt, typically with the first night’s proceeds benefitting Nuci’s Space, a nearby musician’s support and resource center.

The conversation at the UGA Chapel (109 Herty Field, on the main campus) begins at 4 p.m. on Feb. 12th, with the doors opening at 3:15 p.m. Seating is on a first-come basis.
