Nuçi’s Space Awarded $25,000 Grant

On March 22, Nuçi’s Space in Athens was awarded a $25,000 grant from Southwest Airlines’ LUV Grants for Good competition. Fifteen finalists, selected from 352 submissions, were given a Flip camera and told to submit a :90 second video demonstrating how they would show luv to their communities. The Nuçi’s video, shot by Jason Thrasher and Eddie Whelan of Thrasher Photo & Design, featured Patterson Hood (Drive-By Truckers), Mike Mills (R.E.M.), Todd Nance and John Bell of Widespread Panic and Bob Sleppy, Will Kaiser and Laura Ford of Nuçi’s Space discussing the organization’s annual summer camp for kids, Camp Amped, and its mission, to prevent suicide and assist in the emotional, physical, and professional well-being of musicians. Thanks to the voting support of the tight-knit Athens community, Nuçi’s was one of six non-profits to share in the $150,000 grant program.
