Nine-Year-Old Angelica Hale Wows America’s Got Talent

Puddles Pity Party isn’t the only Georgia act blowing away the judges and viewers in the early weeks of this season of America’s Got Talent. Nine-year-old Angelica Hale of Johns Creek stunned everyone during the June 6th broadcast, defying her small size with her stunning rendition of Andra Day’s “Rise Up.”

Her parents, watching in tears from the sidelines, clearly couldn’t be prouder. Young Angelica has had quite a life so far. After contracting a bacterial infection that developed into double pneumonia when she was four years old, Angelica lost all kidney function. Put on life support, she spent 80 days in the hospital before returning home for a regimen of hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis for a year and a half until it was discovered that Angelica’s own mother was a perfect match to donate one of her kidneys to her daughter. In the aftermath of the successful transplant surgery, Angelica has partnered with children’s hospitals and childcare organizations, for whom she regularly performs at fundraisers.
