Bassist Oteil Burbridge (The Aquarium Rescue Unit, The Allman Brothers Band, Dead & Company) will release his new solo album, Water in the Desert, on October 20th.
Backing musicians on the project include his brother Kofi Burbridge on keyboards and Atlantans Dave Yoke (guitars), Alfreda Gerald (vocals) and Mark Rivers (vocals).
“I started writing the songs on this record about ten years ago,” Oteil notes. “They are all songs about love in some way: finding out how to love yourself, hoping that another loved one will love you just as you are, believing in someone when they find it hard to believe in themselves, love gone wrong, or finally finding the ‘perfect fit.’ I feel like every problem we have on earth in some way comes back to the lack of love. That’s really what this album is about.”
Oteil’s next Georgia show will take place on November 2nd at the Georgia Theatre in Athens.
