As an extension of Atlanta-based Quality Control Music’s joint venture with the Capitol Music Group, Atlanta hip-hop trio Migos officially signed a deal on February 16th to release their future music through both QC and Motown/Capitol Records.
Migos’ second album C U L T U R E debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts three weeks ago, and topped the Hot 100 singles chart with “Bad and Boujee.” The group’s latest single, “T-Shirt,” is already in the Top 20 of the Hot 100 chart prior to its February 18th commercial release. The group’s first US tour of 2017 launched on Feb. 13th in Santa Ana, CA.
Quality Control Music was formed in 2013 by partners Pierre Thomas and Kevin Lee, who have developed a hand-picked roster of rap talent from Atlanta. Based on the city’s West Side, the company includes a radio and promotions staff as well as publishing and management divisions. Their partnership with CMG began in 2015.
“This is a very exciting time for QC and Migos,” said Thomas. “We have been independently building our brand, and through our partnership with Motown/Capitol they have shown us that this is the right time to take our business to a global platform.”
