Michael Stipe will unveil a rare solo composition as part of an audio-visual installation at Moogfest, the electronic music gathering taking place in Durham, North Carolina May 18-21.
The installation is described as “an exploration of desire and movement,” and will consist of never-before-seen footage he has shot in New York City set to a soundtrack Stipe created using Moog gear. The installation will run continuously throughout the festival.
Over 150 musicians, inventors, designers and speakers are participating in the semi-annual event, which began in 2004 in New York City before moving south to Asheville, North Carolina in 2010, switching to Durham last year. Animal Collective, Flying Lotus, S U R V I V E, Gotye and 808 State are among the performing acts at this year’s Moogfest. For more information, visit .
