Macon to Celebrate 75 Years of Otis Redding in September

This coming September 9th would have been Otis Redding’s 75th birthday. To mark this special occasion, the Redding Estate and the Otis Redding Foundation will host Celebrating 75 Years of Otis Redding, a weekend of events in Redding’s Macon hometown.

Kicking things off, the City of Macon will declare September 9th Otis Redding Day, with activities throughout downtown Macon that day beginning at noon. More events will follow across the Macon area on September 10th, including a barbecue dinner for VIP sponsors and their guests at the Big “O” Ranch in Round Oak, Georgia. Finally, on September 11th, a tribute concert will fill the Macon City Auditorium featuring a reunion of the ‘80s group The Reddings (featuring Otis’ sons Dexter and Otis III), Alabama soul-rockers St. Paul & the Broken Bones, Macon violin virtuoso Robert McDuffie, the Otis Music Camp All-Stars, and other guests yet to be announced.
