Lil Yachty made a double splash during the Grammy Awards telecast on Feb. 12th. Most significantly, the music video for his and Carly Rae Jepsen’s new remake of Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock’s 1988 hit “It Takes Two” premiered as an extended commercial for the Target department store chain’s fall clothing line. Atlanta’s Mike WILL Made-It produced the new version.
But the ascendant Atlanta rapper raised even more eyebrows with the multi-colored grills that he wore to the ceremony. His custom-made rainbow smile – which contained blue and yellow diamonds, green emeralds and red rubies – reportedly cost him $35,000. But if the ultimate goal was to get attention, this certainly did the trick.
Lil Yachty leaves for a nine-date European tour later this month, beginning Feb. 24th in London. No word on whether the pricey grills are coming along for the ride.
