Lera Lynn Boasts Five Songs on True Detective Soundtrack

Lera Lynn’s career has been on an upward trajectory since she was picked by music coordinator T Bone Burnett to not only contribute songs to the second season of HBO’s True Detective, but also appear in key scenes throughout the season as a singer in the fictional Black Rose dive bar frequented by the show’s characters.

Now five of Lynn’s songs from the series are included on the just released soundtrack, True Detective: Music from the HBO Series, including favorites “My Least Favorite Life,” “The Only Thing Worth Fighting For” (co-written with Burnett and Roseanne Cash) and “Lately” (the Burnett/Bob Neuwirth song used for the second season’s final scene). Others on the soundtrack, which features songs used in both seasons, include Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, Bonnie “Prince” Billy and Cassandra Wilson.

Lynn, who grew up in Atlanta and began her music career in Athens, launches a fall tour Sept. 17th in her current home of Nashville for the Americana Music Festival, continuing on across the Midwest and West Coast through the middle of October.
