Keyboard Tech Who Worked With Springsteen & Others Dies

Atlanta-based keyboard tech Marty Gelhaar, who for nearly 30 years worked with and toured with the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Gregg Allman, Sheryl Crow, Kansas, Bob Seger, R.E.M. and Aerosmith among numerous others, passed away on Nov. 23rd from inoperable esophageal cancer.

Gelhaar was the head technician at Lawrenceville-based Atlanta Vintage Keyboards. While he played in some Atlanta bands in the ‘80s, the backline tech work commanded the bulk of his attention, although of late he occasionally performed with a local prog-rock group called Not Otherwise Specified.
