Jazz, Jam, Psych, Funk and Rock Converge with Kenosha Kid

Kenosha Kid, the Athens-based ensemble led by Dan Nettles, has a new LP/CD due out September 1st.

As indicated by the title, Outside Choices picks up where 2015’s Inside Voices left off, and acts as the yang to the previous album’s yin. As with Voices, the seven tracks were recorded with the core trio – guitarist Nettles, bassist Robby Handley and drummer Marlon Patton – plus a three piece horn section consisting of alto saxophonist Peter Van Huffel, tenor/baritone saxophonist Greg Sinibaldi and trumpeter Jacob Wick. The voiceless excursions explore jazz, jam, psych, funk and rock territory with an infectious enthusiasm and instinctive creativity.

And for those who wonder such things, the old photographs on the album’s cover are of Nettles’ dad and granddad fishing, while his mother is pictured on the inside jacket. The record release show will be Friday, September 1st at Hendershot’s in Athens.
