Jason Aldean, Thomas Rhett, Florida Georgia Line Win CMA Awards

Macon native Jason Aldean was named the Academy of Country Music’s Entertainer of the Year for second consecutive year, beating out fellow home state nominees Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line for the honor, as well as Keith Urbanand Carrie Underwood.

Valdosta’s Thomas Rhett took home the trophy for Male Vocalist of the Year, and also won Song of the Year for his hit “Die a Happy Man.” Florida Georgia Line’s “H.O.L.Y.” won the Single of the Year award, and their collaboration with Tim McGraw, “May We All,” was recognized as the Vocal Event of the Year. And Aldean, Bryan, Trisha Yearwood and Alan Jackson were among the 30 country music stars participating in the Artists of Then, Now and Forever hit song “Forever Country,” which was given the nod for Video of the Year.

 Meanwhile, Billboard has reported that Florida Georgia Line’s performance with the Backstreet Boys was the “most tweeted moment” during the awards broadcast on Sunday, April 2nd.
