In July 2014, Jason Aldean released “Burnin’ It Down,” the first single from his forthcoming album, Old Boots, New Dirt, which will be released on Oct. 7. In late September, it was announced that the song had been officially certified platinum by the RIAA in just nine weeks, making it the fastest selling country single of 2014. An evolution of Aldean’s sound, which has unabashedly mixed the singer’s country roots with the rock and hip-hop influences he also grew up with, “Burnin’ It Down” was co-written by Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line along with Nashville writers Rodney Clawson and Chris Tompkins. Fans don’t seem to mind the musical crossover, however, because Aldean continues to defy sales trends and sell out stadiums across the country.
