Promoting the upcoming EEPHUS compilation EP, Janelle Monae is gathering her eclectic Wondaland Records stable of artists for a brief nationwide tour, performing free “secret” shows for fans in eight cities, including Atlanta.
The tour, sponsored by Toyota and launching August 12th in Philadelphia, will feature Monae and every act on the Atlanta trailblazer’s label: tricky funksters Deep Cotton, singer/songwriter Roman GianArthur, female vocal duo St. Beauty and rapper Jidenna, the latter currently enjoying success with his hit “Classic Man” (featuring GianArthur). The tour continues in New York City on Aug. 13th and winds its way through Washington, DC, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Portland before a hometown show in Atlanta on Aug. 31st.
While admission to these exclusive, invite-only performances is free, fans need to sign up at www.wondaland.com. The secret venues will only be announced 24-48 hours before each city’s show, and winners to the free concerts will be notified via email 24 hours prior to the show date in their particular city.
Meanwhile, the compilation, Wondaland Presents: THE EEPHUS, featuring all of the acts including Monae’s single, “Yoga” (featuring Jidenna), will be available at iTunes and all digital retailers beginning Aug. 14th.
