Indigo Girls will release a unique live album on June 29th via Rounder Records. Available digitally, as a 2-CD set or 3-LP package, Indigo Girls Live with the University of Colorado Symphony Orchestra was recorded in front of a sold-out audience in Boulder, where they reinvented their material while accompanied by a 64-piece symphony.
The seeds for this project were first planted in 2012, when Emily Saliers and Amy Ray began a collaboration with Sean O’Loughlin and Stephen Barber on arrangements of their songs to perform with symphonies around the country. They’ve now given more than 50 such performances, including with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
This new 22-song set captures the symphonic Indigo Girls experience, spanning Ray and Saliers’ three-decade career. Included are a mix of reimagined classics, unexpected deep cuts and tracks from their most recent studio album, One Lost Day.
