The headlining performers have been announced for this year’s AthFest Music & Arts Festival, taking place June 22nd through 24th throughout downtown Athens. While most of the shows (heavily focused on Athens and Georgia-based acts) take place in the numerous venues in that musically active college town, the big headliners perform for free on one of two outdoor stages situated on W. Washington Street and Hull Street.
The New Orleans-based Dirty Dozen Brass Band, a seven-piece horn ensemble now in its 40th year, will headline on Friday, June 22nd, preceded by local hip-hop rising star Linqua Franqa (pictured). On Saturday, Athens favorite Family & Friends will entertain. And on Sunday, playing Athens for the first time since 2000, North Carolina’s The Connells will headline, preceded by a set from long-running Athens band Elf Power.
