AthFest, the annual festival celebrating the music and arts of Athens, Georgia, has announced the headliners for its free, outdoor concerts for this year’s event, set for June 26th through 28th.
On Friday, June 26th, The Whigs (pictured) will close out the evening, immediately preceded by New Madrid, the latter riding high on the acclaim for its latest album Sunswimmer. Colorful Athens favorites of Montreal, whose new LP Aureate Gloom is just out, will top Saturday’s bill. And The Baseball Project – featuring R.E.M.’s Mike Mills along with longtime R.E.M. auxiliary player Scott McCaughey, Steve Wynn of California paisley-poppers The Dream Syndicate and Wynn’s wife, drummer Linda Pitmon – will bring Sunday’s lineup to a rousing end with their odes to America’s Favorite Pastime.
Other performers for AthFest 2015, as well as the lineup for the accompanying compilation album, will be announced soon.
