Granville Automatic Makes Concept Album About Nashville History

Roots music duo Granville Automatic consists of singer-songwriters Elizabeth Elkins and Vanessa Olivarez, both former Georgians. They’ve written songs recorded by Billy Currington, Angaleena Presley, Sugarland and others; when they record albums as Granville Automatic, however, they tend to do so around specific historical themes.

Their previous album, An Army Without Music, was inspired by Civil War stories. Their new one, Radio Hymns, also has a Southern-centric concept: it’s all based on the history of their current home, Nashville, Tennessee.

The self-produced 13-song concept album features guest appearances from Jim Lauderdale, Kevin Griffin (Better Than Ezra), Matraca Berg and Ben Fields, along with many veteran Nashville session players.
