Giddy Up! Back in the Saddle Trot Out Traditional Cowboy Songs

Dubbing themselves Back in the Saddle, an assortment of Georgia singers and musicians donned their ten-gallon hats for a live album of rustlin’ ‘n’ ropin’ cowboy songs titled Born to be Branded.

Recorded last year at the Red Clay Music Foundry in Duluth, the 14-song collection features Gwen Hughes and Berne´ “Frenchy” Poliakoff on vocals, ukulele and whips (the latter for authentic sound effects on tracks like “Rawhide”), while Rick Hinkle strums the guitar, L.A. Tuten plucks the bass, Tim Higgins mans the fiddle and mandolin and Matthew Kaminski squeezes the accordion.

Heavy on humor, the song selection touches on familiar ol’ favorites like “Sioux City Sue,” “Ghost Riders in the Sky,” “Back in the Saddle Again” and “Happy Trails,” plus a pair of originals from Poliakoff.

The group is currently planning a “prairie” tour of the Midwest for October.
