Georgia Tech’s WREK Radio Station Plans 50th Birthday Bash

Georgia Tech’s student radio station WREK (91.1 FM) is marking five decades on the non-commercial end of the dial with a two-night 50th anniversary WREKtacular concert at downtown Atlanta’s Mammal Gallery (91 Broad St. SW).

While the nightly schedule hasn’t been revealed, the event taking place April 6th and 7th will feature performances from local indie rock, hip-hop and experimental acts both new and old, including Pylon Reenactment Society, Elf Power, Omni, CHEW, Yukons, Root Locust, Ethereal and more. Of special note is a reunion of post-punk/art-rock trio BOB (pictured), a staple of Atlanta’s underground music scene during the 1990s.

Single day admission will be $14, or a two-day pass for $22. The first 150 Georgia Tech students (with ID) get in free.
