From Oct. 7 – 15, 2016, the Georgia Mountain Fall Festival is held in Hiawassee with daily entertainment and music concerts, arts and crafts, a flower show and one of the marquee events, the Georgia Official State Fiddlers’ Convention. 

On Friday night at 7 p.m., the Fiddlers’ Convention kicks off with categories including Beginning Fiddler, Harmonica, Buck Dancing, Dulcimer, Dobro and Old Time Banjo. The competition starts at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, with categories including Senior Fiddler, Junior Fiddler, Bluegrass Band, Fingerstyle Guitarist, Flat Pick Guitarist, Banjo and Mandolin. By 7:00 p.m., it’s time for the Finalists Competition and emcee Barry Palmer keeps the crowd excited and engaged as the best of the best battle it out to be a Georgia State Champion.

Five-time IBMA Vocal Group of the Year winners Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out , who perform on Fri. Oct. 13, were formed in Cumming, Georgia in 1991.

The scenery at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds is barn none, especially in October with mild temperatures and fall colors. Admission to the Georgia Mountain Fall Festival is only $12.00 and entertainers scheduled for the 2016 daily concerts include Mickey Gilley, Aaron Tippin, the Gospel Music Show with The Issacs, Anchormen and The Servers, Dailey & Vincent, The Band Kelley, T.G. Sheppard, Country River Band, Phil Vassar, Highridge, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out and Raven & Red.
