Based in Nashville since the end of 2014, acoustic trio Raven and Red originally hail from Duluth, northeast of Atlanta, and will mark the release of their first album of original songs, We Rise Up, with a show at that town’s Red Clay Music Foundry on Saturday, February 10th.
The folk music act began as a duo of Brittany Lynn Jones (vocals and fiddle) and Mitchell Land (vocals, 6- and 12-string guitars), but soon expanded to a trio with the addition of Mitchell’s youngest brother, Cole King, on mandolin and vocals. King is also currently an 11th grade student at Atlanta’s Woodward Academy.
“As a group, we are very focused on our vocals,” says Brittany. “We enjoy arranging and writing melodies that capture the lyrics in our songs.”
“Cole’s voice creates a smooth blend, accentuating the harmonies, and his learning to play violin in school translated seamlessly to the mandolin,” adds Mitchell.
