Georgia Acts Jim White and Packway Handle Band Face Off

Offbeat Southern singer-songwriter Jim White, who’s been living in Winterville, Georgia recently, collaborates with Athens-based bluegrass act the Packway Handle Band on Take It Like a Man, to be released by Yep Roc Records on Jan. 17th.

The merger took shape after the Packways approached White to produce their next album for them. White was already a Packway fan, and unbeknownst to the group, he also had a stash of his own bluegrass-style songs yet to record. Although the two factions perform together throughout the album, Take It Like a Man alternates between White and Packway compositions, with the track “Corn Pone Refugee” the only one co-written.

Jokingly calling themselves Jim White vs. the Packway Handle Band, they’ll be doing a series of live dates together this spring, including the inaugural Shaky Boots country music festival in Kennesaw May 16th and 17th.
