Atlanta rapper Future is leaving everyone else in the dust so far in 2017, releasing two back-to-back albums in February alone and announcing a blockbuster summer tour with fellow ATLiens Migos and Young Thug.
The 63-minute, 17-cut FUTURE was announced on Feb. 14th, hitting retail only three days later, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. Atlanta producers Southside, Fuse, DY, Tre Pounds, Tarentino (all members of the 808 Mafia production team), Zaytoven, DJ Spinz, and Metro Boomin’ were among the behind-the-scenes figures involved.
Several of those same talents – Southside, Metro Boomin’, DJ Spinz – assist Future on HNDRXX, the release of which came one week later. Atlanta studio wizards K-Major, Wheezy, Cicero, Nash B and Major Seven also worked their magic. Rihanna and The Weeknd guest on tracks “Selfish” (the lead single) and “Comin’ Out Strong,” respectively – and the album’s even longer than the previous, clocking in at a hefty 69 minutes. More than enough Future to tide us over until…whenever he springs his next one on us!
