Atlanta’s Fox Theatre has announced a Block Party on June 7th in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Save the Fox campaign that rescued the historic landmark from destruction in the mid 1970s.
Free and open to the public, the outdoor event will take place from noon until 6 p.m. at the intersection of Peachtree Street and Ponce de Leon Avenue, both of which will be blocked to traffic in the area the afternoon of the party. In addition to special tours, food and drink, activities and prizes, live music on two stages will be provided by Francine Reed (pictured), Bogey and Viceroy, Orquestra MaCuba and Tribute – A Celebration of the Allman Brothers Band. More acts will be announced closer to the event.
“We’re excited to turn the theater inside out for the party,” said Fox Theatre Vice President and General Manager Adina Erwin. “We’re bringing the thrill of the Fox outdoors, and we invite all of Atlanta to rock the block with us and celebrate!”
