Betty Cantrell, the former Miss America and Miss Georgia, will be releasing her debut album, Nicotine, in September – and she’ll be returning to middle Georgia to celebrate its release. And although she sang opera for the talent portion of the Miss America broadcast, the album showcases her love of country music.
The album release concert for Nicotine, taking place September 22nd at Macon’s Cox Capitol Theatre, comes just over a year after her reign as Miss America (only the second ever from Georgia) drew to a close. The album will be available on iTunes beginning that day. And no, Cantrell doesn’t smoke – in fact she’s always promoted healthy living during her time on the pageant circuit.
Cantrell, who grew up in Warner Robins and Fort Valley, Georgia and attended Wesleyan College and Mercer University in Macon, currently lives in Nashville with her fiancée, Spencer Maxwell. She and her family will be featured on an upcoming episode of TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress.
