An ongoing series of art exhibitions throughout Athens is documenting the visual aspect of the Elephant 6 Recording Company, the loosely associated music collective/record label famous for introducing much-loved indie-psyche bands such Neutral Milk Hotel, The Olivia Tremor Control, Elf Power and Of Montreal to the world.

Elephant 6 was founded in the early ’90s by a group of young, aspiring Ruston, Louisiana musicians – Robert Schneider, Will Cullen Hart, Bill Doss and Jeff Mangum, the latter three of which moved to Athens in 1993. (After living in several other nooks of the United States, Schneider also moved to Georgia in 2012 to attend Atlanta’s Emory University.) Schneider leads The Apples in Stereo, Hart and Doss (who died in 2012) spearheaded the OTC and Mangum is the principal force behind NMH.

The art exhibits include poster and album cover artwork, sound and interactive installations, photography, animation, onstage props and more. Exhibit titles, locations and display dates are:
