Magnets and Ghosts, the rock duo consisting of Collective Soul guitarist Dean Roland and Ryan Potesta, will follow up its 2011 debut album Mass with a new EP titled Be Born on Nov. 10th.
Roland met Potesta in 2007 during the recording of Collective Soul’s Afterwords album, for which Potesta acted as second engineer. When Collective Soul went on hiatus a few years later, Magnets and Ghosts became more than just a side project.
Although they boast strong influence from British art-rock bands such as Radiohead, Elbow and Doves, Be Born introduces heavier rock and pop elements into the group’s sound. For live shows, the core duo is expanded into a full band with the addition of several players.
