Between June 2012 and January 2014, Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ released a quartet of distinctive EPs showcasing the band’s varied styles and influences. Now Plowboy Records, a Nashville-based imprint overseen by Cheetah Chrome (formerly of the punk band The Dead Boys), is cherry-picking the best tracks from those EP, acclaimed as their best work in decades, for a vinyl-only album.
“Cheetah asked me if I wanted to make a Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ album,” lead singer, songwriter and guitarist Kevn Kinney recalls, “and I said that I didn’t think I had it in me to make another album at that moment. But I’d always wanted to make a greatest hits album from the EPs. I had originally hoped that people would make their own albums out of their favorite songs on the EPs, and this is my version of that.”
Best of Songs includes ten tracks housed in a sleeve whose cover art replicates the vibe of a well-worn ‘70s-era K-tel hits collection. Release date is May 12th.
