Earlier this year, Mastodon released a 12-part series of short videos showing the making of their latest, Grammy-nominated album Emperor of Sand. Now producer/director Jimmy Hubbard has cut it all together and added over 30 minutes of previously unseen footage to create a full-length documentary.
Running just over 75 minutes, The Making of Emperor of Sand can be viewed via YouTube now. The film brings the viewer deep into the band’s creative inner sanctum, presenting an honest, humorous, emotional and deeply personal peek into their four distinctively different personalities, and the process that distills them into one unified vision.
The group is currently on a brief UK tour, their final tour dates of 2017.
