Cicada Rhythm Announce Covers Project, Release Dylan Track

Athens-based folk music duo Cicada Rhythm, which occasionally expands to a trio or quartet when needed, have announced a new covers-only project called Stuck in My Head that will roll out over the next few months via Normaltown Records.

The first fruits of the project, a version of Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right,” has just been released on iTunes and Spotify. Says vocalist/guitarist Dave Kirslis, “Bob Dylan’s song was in my head when we first moved to our home in Athens. The old house was a big reverb chamber because of all the wood, high ceilings and lack of furniture, which was a fun atmosphere to sing and play guitar in. Somehow, right off the bat one night, I started playing it in 3/4 instead of 4/4. I was surprised how well it works as a waltz, too, which is just another testimony of how great a writer Dylan is.”

The group, anchored by Kirslis and vocalist/standup bassist Andrea DeMarcus, will embark on a European tour with Jim White in November. Their next Athens show is January 18th at the 40Watt Club with David Lowery and Johnny Hickman of Cracker.
